This exquisite antique French automaton clock, dating from around 1890, is crafted from gilt and silvered bronze, set on a fine rouge marble base. Designed to resemble a horizontal steam boiler, it features intricate automaton mechanisms, including a large flywheel at the back driven by a crankshaft, and a two-ball silver "governor" positioned above and to the left of the flywheel.
The clock boasts a realistic depiction of a steam boiler, complete with an array of valves, levers, and pipes. The front of the boiler displays a timepiece clock on the left and a barometer on the right, with an alcohol thermometer situated between them. The inscription "C.H. Deposee" is engraved above and to the right of the timepiece dial, indicating the maker.
The detailed craftsmanship and dynamic automaton elements make this piece a remarkable example of 19th-century French horology. The clock measures 12 inches high by 12 inches wide (30 cm by 30 cm).
