This Charles X table clock, made in France between 1780 and 1820, is conceived as a Neo-Gothic architectural fantasy in cast and gilt bronze. The case stands roughly 520 mm (52 cm) high and measures about 280 mm wide and 180 mm deep, its pinnacles, tracery and filigree modelled on medieval cathedral fronts.
At its centre a waterfall automaton animates a column of twisted glass rods that revolve to imitate falling water beside the dial, while a rod pendulum drives the going train for precise timekeeping. The combination of cascading waterfall and Gothic spires makes this one of the more theatrical horological objects of the early 19th century, with the bronze surfaces and movement consistent with its 1780–1820 dating.
Offered by Almaz Atelier as an estate piece in Vienna, it suits collectors of automaton clocks and Charles X decorative arts. For condition reports or viewing, contact Almaz Vienna or visit almaz.jewelry.
