Gerald Genta Retro Sport | Diamond Bezel | Vintage Jumping Hour & Retrograde

- Info
The bezel runs steel and rubber together and then sets diamonds across the rubber band — a construction that nobody else in Geneva was building when Gérald Genta's atelier released it. The dial is black with a carbon-fibre centre and an upper retrograde arc for the minutes; the hour leaps in a window above. Caliber GA4700 inside, 27 jewels, automatic, sapphire crystal, steel case 40.5mm with a screw-down caseback held by six screws. Reference G 3694. Genta (1931–2011) had drawn the Royal Oak (1972) and the Nautilus (1976) for houses that paid him to integrate steel into haute horology; the atelier he founded in 1969 in Geneva is where he eventually built the diamond-and-rubber bezel he would never have proposed to Audemars Piguet. Signed case, dial and movement. Authenticated at Almaz Vienna.
