Oursin is French for sea urchin, and Gérald Genta named this case for the bezel — a spiked, multifaceted ring that catches light from any angle. The Oursin is one of the small-format ladies' pieces that Genta's atelier turned out in parallel with its big retrograde statements: a 27mm yellow-gold case, 7mm thin, sapphire crystal protecting an unmarked white dial, black crocodile strap closing on a yellow-gold pin buckle. Reference G 3492.7 pairs to the Geneva production records of the brand Genta (1931–2011) founded in 1969 — the same atelier that produced the Royal Oak (1972) and Nautilus (1976) sketches for other houses before he focused his own signature on cases that no other maison would license.
