The octagonal case is the architectural inheritance — Gérald Genta's Octo line is the silhouette he refused to leave alone after drawing the Royal Oak in 1972 — but the dial is where this Octo Bi-Retro becomes singular: 228 white diamonds and 155 black diamonds set in patterns that read as engraved shadow, retrograde minutes sweeping the upper arc, jumping hour leaping at twelve, retrograde date fanning below. 18K white gold, 39×41mm, automatic, 10 ATM, complete with original box and papers (reference COR.X.60.999.LZ.BD.S31). Genta (1931–2011) had founded his own atelier in 1969 to build complications the corporate maisons would not buy; the Octo Bi-Retro is his late-period statement on what unlimited budget and a refusal to compromise look like on a single dial.
